E. Patrick Johnson (B.A. ’89, M.A. ’91) will discuss his new book, Sweet Tea: Black Gay Men of the South (University of North Carolina Press, 2008).
The book, an oral history of a population previously unaccounted for in southern history, Sweet Tea gives voice to black gay men who were born, raised, and continue to live in the southern United States.
Johnson, who is widely published in areas of race, class, gender and performance, is the director of graduate studies, and professor in the Department of Performance Studies and professor of African American studies at Northwestern University.
