Shirley Chisholm
In 1968, Shirley Chisholm became the first elected African-American Congresswoman and the first to run for President of the United States (1972).
Director and producer Shola Lynch introduces and will lead a discussion of this Peabody award-winning documentary film that chronicles Chisholm’s 1972 bid for the Democratic presidential nomination and her dogged refusal to accept the status quo.
The screening, co-sponsored by the Department of Public Policy and the Creative Campus Initiative, is part of the Stone Center’s yearlong reflection on the global significance of 1968/69
