My Name is Albert Ayler traces the life of avant-garde jazz saxophonist Albert Ayler from his native town of Cleveland, by way of Sweden, to New York. Ayler, who died in 1970 at 34, is today considered among the most prophetic and innovative free jazz musicians of the 1960s. Director Kasper Collin/ Sweden/ 2005/ 79 mins.
Larry Reni Thomas, a 30-year veteran writer/radio announcer and host of Sunday Night Jazz on WCOM 103.5 FM, will lead a post-discussion.
